Nestled in the beautiful adventure playground that is Aoraki Mt Cook National Park, The Hermitage Hotel is in a breath-taking environment of glaciers, alpine lakes, sparkling rivers and New Zealand’s tallest peak, the mighty Aoraki Mt Cook soaring above the skyline at 3,724 metres. There is no shortage of recreational activities to keep you occupied in your spare time!

Part of the senior management team you will report directly to the Hotel General Manager. The role involves overseeing a variety of Food and Beverage outlets including the premier Panorama Restaurant, Alpine Buffet Restaurant, Sir Edmund Hillary Cafe and Snack Bar, and the Chamois Bar & Grill. Catering for over 500 guests in the peak season, service never stops.

We welcome both local and international guests to experience this unique environment with us and our aim is to build a team that can perform with poise and efficiency regardless of the volume of guests. Following a recent substantial refurbishment of the kitchen, dining and bar areas, you have a great opportunity to further your career in a high-quality environment!

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as Food and Beverage Manager or Assistant Food and Beverage Director within leading hotels.
  • Multi outlet operational experience
  • Up to date knowledge of current food trends and culinary techniques.
  • Demonstrated application of F&B Revenue Management initiatives
  • The ability to develop and maintain Food and Beverage/Culinary Goals
  • A confident and collaborative personality with a working style that encourages client, customer feedback and demonstrates a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Proven ability to manage, train and roster the team in line with set budgets.
  • Hands on management style with proven leadership qualities.
  • Highly effective interpersonal communication skills, leading to positive interactions with hotel staff, management and suppliers.
  • To be able to work flexible hours, including the ability to work weekends, public holidays, morning and night shifts.

  • Applicants should be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, although assistance to obtain this may be provided for some roles.
  • All positions at Aoraki Mt Cook Alpine Village Ltd have accommodation provided as part of our unique lifestyle package, due to the idyllic, isolated location of Mt Cook, you will need to be comfortable working and living in a remote location.
