Borders are open, travel confidence is soaring, and there’s optimism in the air for a smashing summer ahead. To help the industry navigate a new era of travel, Maverick Digital is hosting an exciting new event for tourism marketers – and the final release of tickets have just gone on sale.

The programme is jam-packed full of thought-provoking speakers and panel discussions. Each presenter will provide practical takeaways to help you identify, overcome, and seize the marketing opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Some of tourism’s top marketing minds are taking to the stage:

Shaun Fitzgibbon is a Managing Partner at TRA – a data guru who thrives on connecting the dots between research and insights to better understand consumer behaviour and inform marketing strategy. Shaun will share TRA’s latest data and research on how Kiwis are feeling right now and to connect with the domestic traveller as we head into 2023.

Craig McKay hails from Interactive Arts and is passionate about using augmented technology to enhance and re-imagine tourism experiences. Bringing the best of both physical and digital worlds together, Craig’s insights will help you identify how your attraction can reach the next level using immersive websites and virtual reality tools.

Tash McGill, aka. The Transformationist, is a big believer in brand storytelling – and has the hacks and tricks you need to stand out from the crowd and showcase your unique proposition in a cluttered travel media landscape. You’ll take away some strong ideas on how to leverage your brand narratives in a way that’s warm, fun, and authentic.

And recently added, Mia Matulic, who leads the Travel and Tourism portfolio at Google New Zealand. Passionate about weaving effective storytelling, consumer behaviour and technology together; Mia thrives on enabling tourism organisations to win over the ‘undecided consumer’ through insights, creative and a digital customer experience.

Speakers also include:

  • Anna Calver (Wellington City Council)
  • Dean Smith (Wētā Workshop)
  • Hayden Parsons (Enterprise Dunedin)
  • Letitia Stevenson (Yonder)
  • Nineke Metz (Waitangi Treaty Grounds)
  • Shayne Forrest (Hobbiton Movie Set)
  • Stephen England-Hall (RealNZ)

A shout-out to Destination: Digital’s sponsors, helping bring the event to life

Great things happen when we work together – and Maverick has teamed up with some of New Zealand’s trailblazing tourism tech companies to deliver an exceptional event. Maverick is super grateful for the support of IBIS Technology, a pioneer in travel reservation systems, e-commerce and point of sale platforms — and Yonder, providing tourism operators with the tools to automate their FAQ’s and utilise rich customer insights to propel their business forward.

Over 90% of tickets are gone – don’t miss the boat!

Monday 5 December is the date for your diary – the day prior to TEC’s Xmas Symposium, allowing you to easily attend both events. An afternoon of learning and connection awaits – so get your colleagues together and be part of the kōrero as we come together to reimagine tourism through a digital lens. It’s all happening at Wētā Workshop Unleashed – with the final tickets available online now.
