We are a locally owned and operated Queenstown tourism group that proudly runs two award-winning companies. BLACK is Queenstown’s premier luxury tour operator offering private touring in high-end vehicles, and Altitude Tours is a small group day tour company, taking people on incredible journeys to Milford Sound, Mt Cook, Glenorchy, Gibbston, Central Otago, and around Queenstown.

Our current General Manager and Co-founder is stepping out of the business on maternity leave and will be returning to a different position, therefore for the first time in our company’s history, we are recruiting for a General Manager.

We are in search of an accomplished and dynamic General Manager to lead our operations in Queenstown, New Zealand. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the NZ tourism landscape, a proven track record in leadership, be performance-driven, and have a genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences. As the General Manager, you will have a pivotal role in shaping our offerings, managing a diverse team, and contributing to the growth of our businesses.

Core aspects of the role are:

  • Oversee daily operations of the group and be willing to roll up their sleeves and be hands-on when required
  • Provide strategic direction for all aspects of the operation, aligning strategies with the group’s vision and values
  • Negotiate contracts, nurture and grow relationships with partners and suppliers 
  • Have exceptional communication and people leadership skills, a strong focus on culture and performance
  • Drive the departments of the organisation to deliver and operate to their strategic goals and achieve KPIs
  • Monitor financial performance – reviewing sales results and monitoring expenditure
  • Deliver the goals and strategy of the board
  • Strong commercial acumen and exceptional organisational skills
