Construction of three new pedestrian bridges in the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor is expected to start ahead of schedule.

The Government has approved $300m worth of investment as part of Christchurch City Council’s regeneration project.

New artist impressions have been released for Cathedral Square in Christchurch.

Christchurch’s 602-hectare Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor regeneration area includes a raft of visitor attraction opportunities including a gondola, tram, a surf park or ecotourism venture, according to the draft plan published yesterday.

Clean-up work on ChristChurch Cathedral’s derelict site is to begin next month after an agreement was struck on its reinstatement.

Regenerate Christchurch has released its vision for Cathedral Square, which it describes as “aspirational in terms of design”.
