Tourism New Zealand may want to #getNZonthemap but it appears the government’s own website leaves the country out.
The New Zealand government’s 404 error page, which features the text “page not found” and “we’re sorry, something’s missing” is illustrated with a world map that does not include New Zealand.
It comes after Tourism New Zealand launched a new $150,000 campaign, featuring prime minister Jacinda Ardern, to encourage the addition of New Zealand to all world maps.
In the “light-hearted” video Ardern joins forces up with Flight of the Conchords comedian Rhys Darby to to #GetNZonthemap, and drive visitor numbers.
The video campaign is being pushed to key visitor markets such as the USA, UK and Australia.
