Mt Hutt Ski Area, Christchurch Airport and Haka Tourism Group’s Ryan Sanders have picked up gongs at Canterbury’s Westpac Champion Business Awards.
The three operators were recognised at an awards ceremony at Christchurch’s Horncastle Arena attended by about 1,200 people on Wednesday night.
Mt Hutt won the ACC Champion Workplace Safety award ahead of Christchurch Airport and infrastructure maintenance company SICON Limited. The award celebrates businesses that demonstrate excellence in health and safety systems and procedures.
“Winning this award is a great accolated for not just our health and safety committee but for our entire ski area,” said Mt Hutt Ski Area manager James McKenzie.
“Being able to deliver a safe working environment comes down our culture. Staff live and breathe safe working practices every day.”
Christchurch Airport won the Bayleys Real Estate Champion Service Delivery award for medium to large enterprises. The latest accolade follows the airport’s winning of the Great Journeys of New Zealand Tourism 2025 Enabler Award at the NZ Tourism Awards earlier this month.
Haka Tourism Group’s founder, Ryan Sanders, picked up the MYOB Champion Emerging Leader award.
Science software developers Seequent won the supreme award for medium to large enterprises and City Harvest Food Rescue took the supreme honour for small businesses.
The Westpac Champion Business Awards are owned by the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce.
