In an effort to offer its support to the wider tourism industry, Auckland University of Technology’s Tourism Department got in touch with the Ticker to share the following letter from its Head of School, Linda O’Neill.
April 2020
To our valued partners in the tourism industry.
Over the past few months, all our lives have been deeply impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. In these extraordinary times, we wanted to reach out to our incredibly supportive community of industry partners, your colleagues and employees with manaakitanga – our hospitality, kindness, generosity, and support.
You are not alone. We are standing by you.
Tourism has been one of the world’s largest industries and is an integral part of our vibrant society. As always, we are dedicated to the collective success of the tourism industry and will continue to support you in every way we can.
We remain open to suggestions on ways that we can play our part in helping the broader tourism community. We trust that together we will see ourselves out of these difficult times and find a road to recovery.
He waka eke noa. We are all in this together.
