Conventions & Incentives New Zealand has downsized its team following a business review triggered by the financial hit wrought by the Covid-19 crisis.
The business event industry association has made three redundancies comprising events and marketing director Heather Cornish, marketing coordinator Catherine Hayes, and business development manager Australia Heidi Heming.
Cornish, Hayes and Heming had been with the organisation for six, 10 and almost 12 years respectively.
Chief executive Lisa Hopkins said: “The past few weeks have tested our determination to work through this most testing of moments and at times, our resilience has been challenged.
“We have witnessed how businesses have been forced to change, they have hibernated, said goodbye to staff or closed for good. It has been a time when many have had to reinvent themselves, putting in place strategies and priorities to ensure a sustainable future.
“As a result, we have had to make an extremely difficult decision and will be saying a sad farewell to Heather, Heidi and Catherine from the CINZ team. All three have played such huge roles within CINZ and I have quickly come to understand that to many of you, they were more than just industry colleagues, but also friends and indeed, whanau.”
