Gráinne Troute has been named at the new independent chair on the board at Tourism Industry Aotearoa.
She comes into the role with experience in a number of sectors including tourism, hospitality and retail, and replaces Richard Lauder, who left the sector at the end of March.
Troute was appointed as an independent director at Tourism Holdings Ltd in 2015, and is a director of of NZX-listed companies Summerset Holdings Ltd and Investore Property. She was general manager, corporate services at SkyCity Entertainment Group from 2008 until 2016.
“TIA is fortunate to have attracted a new chair of Ms Troute’s calibre, especially at this incredibly challenging time for New Zealand’s entire tourism industry,” said TIA acting chair Grant Webster.
“The Board is confident that her leadership experience of tourism and other industries will add value as we navigate these unprecedented times.”
Troute said, “Tourism is enormously important to New Zealand. TIA has displayed strong leadership through the COVID-19 pandemic and we will continue to look for every opportunity to support the interests of our members and the wider industry.”
There are 14 directors on the TIA board.
