Great Journeys New Zealand (GJNZ) operates some of New Zealand’s most iconic Tourism experiences – The TranzAlpine, Coastal Pacific & Northern Explorer scenic trains.

Over recent years we have been embarking on transformational change regarding how we offer unique experiences to domestic and international visitors. Originating from scenic train travel, we now offer Scenic Day Trips, Short Breaks & Fully Guided multi-day tours.

What you’ll do

Our Trade Manager is responsible for leading the Trade Team in the management of the retail, OTA, domestic trade, inbound, wholesale and groups sales channels. You’ll be accountable for nurturing and developing key relationships, internally and externally.

Driving sales and revenue targets is a strong focus of the role, along with actively growing new business opportunities by looking beyond traditional activities.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Setting clear strategies and initiatives to achieve KPI’s & targets
  • Building customer loyalty and growth through understanding customers’ long-term needs and market trends
  • Leading the development of ideas and best practice ensuring effective campaigns and promotional activity
  • An ability to provide insight and challenge the status quo

What you’ll need

Second nature to you will be an ability to build highly effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Ideally, you’ll already have well established trade sector relationships withing the New Zealand Tourism Market. To complement these skills, you’ll also be:

  • Commercially savvy and intellectually agile
  • Creative, collaborative and inclusive
  • A problem solver and resilient
  • Astute with budgets and planning

Regular domestic and international travel is required.
