International Markets Manager – ChristchurchNZ

We’re after an International Markets Manager to join our Visitor Economy team at ChristchurchNZ. Reporting to the Head of Destination, you will be responsible for strategically shaping international demand for Christchurch through high‑value trade, platform and distribution partnerships, in a rapidly evolving global travel landscape. 

As International Markets Manager you will:

  • Drive international visitation by delivering a focused trade strategy and annual trade marketing programme aligned with destination management priorities and evolving travel behaviours.
  • Build and leverage strong travel trade partnerships to increase awareness, influence choice, and stimulate demand for Christchurch in key offshore markets.
  • Lead trade engagement, including managing and hosting famil programmes that showcase Christchurch and the wider region.
  • Deliver effective trade communications alongside the marketing, brand and communications team through relevant digital platforms and channels, using insights and analytics to strengthen engagement and conversion.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Extensive industry experience and heightened ability to develop and nurture meaningful and measurable relationships with the travel trade which drive business to Ōtautahi 
  • A successful track record in customer service/sales (minimum of 5 years) 
  • B2B sales and marketing experience 
  • Strong relationship management skills 
  • Knowledge and awareness of the Canterbury region 
  • Great hosting skills 
  • Strong experience in negotiation, influencing and communications skills (both internally and externally) 
  • Ability to deal with changing work requirements 
  • Sound administrative and analysis skills, including use of CRM
  • Public speaking experience very helpful
  • An understanding of the global tourism distribution channels is advantageous
  • Event management experience, helpful but not mandatory 
  • Passion for the future of Christchurch and our ambition for this place
